Laptop Compatibility

I was wondering what sort of compatibility issues there are for western made laptops.  Do people have issues accessing the internet or wireless networks?

There are no compatibility issues with regard to the internet. It works the same as virtually any where else in the world. The only thing to consider is that wireless networks are not as common as they are in the States or in other Western countries. But wireless connectivity should not be a problem in expat housing developments or hot spots around Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou.

The only compatibility issue will be power. China uses the 220V/50Hz power supply with 3 different adapters. There are also 3 different adapter styles. The best course of action is to get a travel adapter that will work throughout Asia. While in China, you can buy very inexpensive surge protectors that will work with 2 and 3 prong US adapters.
