ChinaPrimer.com is the authoritative and comprehensive resource for businesses in the initial stages of a China project.
The site was founded by Carson Block, who practiced law in Shanghai for Jones Day (a large U.S. law firm) and co-authored Doing Business in China for Dummies. Our mission is to help foreign companies get their initial bearings in China by 1) providing valuable “how to” content, and 2) highlighting cost-effective providers of professional services.
As an attorney serving Western clients in M&A and foreign direct investment (“FDI”) matters in China, Carson noticed that there is a large need to educate foreign investors before they arrive in China. He also realized that many foreign SMEs are initially confused about the service providers – attorneys, accountants, consultants – they should hire to assist them with their projects. Thus, Carson and Robert Collins co-authored Doing Business in China for Dummies, which is largely a China FDI manual. ChinaPrimer.com augments the book by providing dynamic content and covering a broader range of topics than is possible in the book.
ChinaPrimer.com features easily digestible articles on various China business topics. However, it goes beyond pure business by advising on expatriate lifestyle issues. Most of the articles are written by service providers who have expertise in the given area.
